Space is truly the final frontier when it comes to designing a subwoofer system. After extensive planning, designing, and modeling, the Acoustic Engineering Team at ARC Audio has developed a shallow-mount subwoofer solution that meets our expectations for performance and reliability. We proudly introduce the new SW Series subwoofers.
With space in today's vehicles being at an extremely valuable premium the ARC Audio SW Series Subwoofers offer a compact, shallow, and performance-oriented solution for the most demanding of music lovers. The SW Series offers an SQL Style performance design in an incredibly compact package.
The flagship in the SW Series is the SW 12. This 12-inch sub requires only 2-5/8” inches of mounting depth while handling 400 Watts RMS / 800 Watts Peak of power and delivers 16mm of linear one-way excursion low-end impact not typically experienced in other shallow subwoofer designs. Because we have placed the motor on the front of the speaker, there are no vents or depth consuming motor assembly components on the rear of the basket to limit how close the sub can be to the back or bottom of an enclosure.
The subwoofer features a high-temperature compatible N42UH neodymium rare earth magnet. N42UH can handle temperatures up to 356 degrees to ensure this subwoofer will sound great, even when pushed with extreme power levels without any loss of efficiency or change in performance, regardless of the level of demand by the user.
This front-motor design affords three significant performance and application benefits. Primarily, having the motor assembly on the front of the speaker dramatically reduces mounting depth requirements. The motor occupies space that would otherwise be wasted as the clearance between the subwoofer and a seat back or bottom. You can place something right up against the SW 12 without any fear of cone damage, even at its maximum excursion limits just as you would need to take into consideration on any traditional subwoofer design application.
The second benefit of our front-facing motor design is increased thermal power handling. Because the motor assembly isn’t buried inside an enclosure, the ambient and often cooler air in front of the subwoofer helps to keep the motor cool, thereby reducing power compressing and improving performance.
Finally, our design allows for excellent cone excursion capabilities, exceeding most shallow-mount drivers with a conventional magnet design. When it comes to making bass, being able to move air involves both cone area and cone excursion capabilities. Bottom line, if you want it low and loud from an extremely compact enclosure, the new SW Series subwoofers are the new reference.
SW Series subwoofers feature a cellulose fiber cone assembly with a composite hydrophobic treatment that ensures the cone mass remains constant in extreme humidity applications. The cone is affixed to the cast aluminum basket with a rubber surround and a woven poly-cotton and Nomex spider provides compliance. The copper voice coil is three inches in diameter to further increase power handling and features an aluminum former that helps wick heat away from the winding. Last, but certainly not least, and aluminum interface at the triple-joint provides additional cooling and ensures the interface with the cone remains stable and solid.
Take your subwoofer system to an entirely new level with the ARC Audio SW Series. Shallowing mounting requirements and more cone excursion capability ensure that those passionate about their music will be impressed by every note.
